hi… i think this is a helpful website and your recent post about exfoliation is great. I am prone to alot of blackhead and mild breakouts. Are weekly facials safe to get all the guck out my pores? I know its really expensive but i could really use some advice.

    Hi, Nadra!

Thanks for checking out my blog!

I don’t recommend weekly facials for most skin. Facials, because of the professional grade products and the extractions, can be a lot for the skin to handle on a weekly basis. My fear is that the skin will become too stripped and become prone to damage. If you would like to clear your skin of the blackheads, I would recommend going in once every 2 weeks and supplementing these facials with a good home care regimen. Your esthetician should be able to recommend products based on the look and feel of your skin.

Definitely start using something with salicylic acid, however. Nothing works better on blackheads and pore congestion than salicylic acid. Paula’s Choice makes a very nice 2% blackhead remover. Also, an impurity absorbing masque can help your skin, provided you are not too dry. One of the ones that I like is Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Masque. If you wish to find a masque on your own, look for one that contains one of the following: Charcoal, Clay, or Sulfur.

    Hope this helps!

    Liz
